The four categories awarded were; Best Collaboration, Most Innovative, Best in Tech and Benevolence in business. Read on to learn all about our winners.
Best Collaboration–The Oberle Academy and Germanna Community College
Each year we recognize local businesses that have worked in collaboration with each other and have shown success in their collaboration efforts. This year we would like to recognize two educational institutions that have worked closely in the special education space.
Many of the Oberle Academys high-school students have an opportunity to take courses at Germanna Community College. The Oberle Academy works closely with the special education specialist at Germanna to ensure the experience is positive. Students are administered placement tests so an appropriate course can be chosen for each student. Most of our students begin with the student development course and take the class as a group during our regular school day. One of the Oberle staff drives students to campus and also works with them during our Bulldog Block (extended lunch period) to assist with the work.
Most Innovative–Tire Tread Service’s
This award is for a local business that has innovative practices throughout their organization that has changed the way they do business.
Tire Tread Service’s has revolutionized the automotive service industry locally by providing mobile tire service in the greater Fredericksburg Area. This is a more convenient alternative to stopping by repair shops. Tire Tread Service provides around-the-clock roadside assistance for tire emergencies on retail and commercial vehicles. With one call, they will dispatch the roadside service truck to your location in a timely fashion to minimize downtime and get you back in operation again
Best In Tech – Mary Washington Hospital
The recipient of this award is recognized for their innovative approach, exceptional execution, and commitment to advancing technological solutions
Mary Washington Hospital won this award for their innovation with Moxi the robotic hospital assistant! Moxi serves as a member of the staff at Mary Washington Hospital. Moxi, created by Diligent Robotics, is a point-to-point delivery robot, meaning it can retrieve items in one department and deliver them to another. This allows the nurses, certified nursing assistants, and techs to remain on the unit and spend more time with their patients.
Benevolence in Business- Central Rappahannock Regional Library
This award is presented to a local business that has distinguished itself through exceptional branding, reputation, and significant outreach within the community and business sectors. The recipient is celebrated for their positive and trustworthy reputation, and actively engaging in outreach initiatives that benefit both the local community and the wider business landscape.
During the summer, children and teens can enjoy an expanded array of CRRL offerings, including summer reading programs with prizes, special events, scavenger hunts, and grab-and-go activities. Along with exploring the library’s collection, they can receive free nutritious lunches available to anyone 18 and under. The library also hosts a free summer concert series, inviting the community to enjoy performances by local musicians and bands on the steps of the downtown library. Additionally, the library provides free classes, enabling local businesses, teachers, and organizations to share their knowledge with the community. These are just a sliver of services our local library system offers our community.
