December 12, 2024 – Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FXBGO!) announced at its Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, hosted by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, the new route realignments of its Fredericksburg bus routes. “The City of Fredericksburg, of which Fredericksburg Go! is a department, continues to lean forward in new, innovative and creative ways of impacting the region. Through transit there continues to be steady growth that has a positive impact on economic development, workforce, and quality of life factors in our region,” said Xavier Richardson, Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Development Officer of Mary Washington Healthcare.
Extensive community feedback was received during FXBGO!’s Transit Strategic Plan and after thorough analysis, the newly revised Fredericksburg routes will streamline service, reduce travel times, and better connect residents to key destinations throughout the City. These improvements are part of the transit system’s ongoing commitment to create a more efficient and user-friendly public transit system. “Transit is an investment in the region by both users and non-users of the system. Transit supports the community, provides access to jobs, education, training, medical, shopping and other trips. The benefits of public transit are well documented and include enhanced mobility options, improved health outcomes, connection to educational opportunities, access to employment, cultural and retail opportunities. Public transit can be a key factor for those who decide to live or work in Fredericksburg, and for businesses when they choose to locate in the City due to their workforce needs,” said City of Fredericksburg Mayor Kerry P. Devine.
In addition to the route realignments, FXBGO! introduced new route names that will no longer feature letters, solely numbers to make it easier for riders to navigate the system.
