Fredericksburg– The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber recently promoted Wendy Zelazny to Vice President of Membership. Zelazny joined the Chamber over four years ago. The organization has experienced significant growth in its top tier membership levels because of her strong business engagement skills. Zelazny has an expansive background that includes film production. She modernized the Chamber’s ribbon-cutting services to provide an enhanced experience and marketing for business celebrations.

“Wendy is a tremendous asset to the Chamber,” said Susan Spears, President & CEO. “Her incredible work ethic and enthusiasm, and her unwavering commitment to our member business’s success, has attracted more diverse members to our organization. We are fortunate to have her!”

Carley Swaim Walker has been promoted to Vice President of Programs & Events. Walker joined the Chamber a year ago after relocating to Fredericksburg from Greensboro, N.C. Walker served as Executive Director for the Volunteer Center of the Triad for eight years, bringing a wealth of nonprofit and volunteer experience to her role at the Chamber. She is leading the Workforce Intern Expo later this month, among other duties.

“The Chamber has benefited immensely from Carley’s leadership and nonprofit management experience Her ability to leverage volunteers while guiding internal teams is a sought-after skill in the Chamber industry,” said Susan Spears. “It is also important to note that she is a joy be around on a daily basis!”

The Chamber also promoted Stacey Hicks to Operations Manager. Hicks has been a loyal team member for nine years, supporting the CEO, the Finance Department, and many other aspects of the internal organization. Ellen Ball was promoted to Senior Director of Finance. Ball joined the Chamber just prior to the pandemic (January 2020). Taking advantage of the office closure, she carefully reviewed financial procedures and systems and then offered recommendations to modernize many processes.

“Stacey is the glue that keeps us all together! She is always seeking new ways for the organization to be efficient. Also, she supports everyone with a calm, trusting demeanor that can make even your worst day better,” said Susan Spears, who further noted, “Ellen has been a godsend to our finance department. She is organized and thorough, and helps me spot issues that I would miss without her expertise.”
