FREDERICKSBURG – The Community Foundation invites local educators to apply for grants through its educator-focused funds: The Governors Row Fund, The Bill Greenup Charitable Fund, The Haven Make a Difference Fund, The Martha Scott Ross Literacy Fund and The Trust for Public Education IV Fund. This grant cycle is open September 18th through October 23, 2024, and these funds will collectively award over $40,000 to local educators.
The foundation will support educators and their students through the funds’ focus areas, including:

Creating Career/College Ready Lifelong Learners – at all grade levels

Community engagement to benefit students, teachers, and families in our local communities

Health and wellness programs for students’ and teachers’ social, emotional, and physical health

Professional development for all teachers and staff
The Bill Greenup Charitable Fund is a dedication to H. William, ‘Bill’ Greenup’s love of books, reading and to those giving back to their community in the public library profession. He was an avid reader, passionate history buff, and long-time supporter of local education. This grant will support public-school library media specialists and library professionals employed by Fredericksburg City Public Schools.
The Martha Scott Ross Literacy Fund was established by Richard Ross and their daughters, Sarah Knoll and Amy Ross, as a memorial to a beloved wife and mother, Martha, an educator, and librarian. Grants will be made to Librarians/Media Specialists in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania and Stafford.
Local developers established The Haven Make a Difference Fund and the Governors Row Fund for Teachers and Students with the commitment to support Fredericksburg City Public Schools teachers and students. Educators may apply for funding to expand their teaching skills or provide classroom resources. Successful proposals feature innovation; are based on research and best practices in teaching; and include professional development that directly impacts students.
Established by NTS Virginia Development Company, developers of the Fawn Lake community, the Trust for Public Education IV Fund distributes funds annually to projects benefiting students and teachers at the elementary, middle and high school levels in Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
