 Fredericksburg Fairgrounds

FOUNDED IN 1738, Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair is the oldest fair in the United States. Join us in celebrating traditional fair events, contests, entertainment, food and fun for the whole family! The Fredericksburg Agricultural Fairgrounds offers year round rental availability as an ideal space for small to large gatherings.

 The Fairgrounds has gone through recent innovations and upgrades. Now we can accommodate corporate clients such as GEICO and the Mary Washington Hospital Foundation. 

Many people helped keep the fair going during those early years including W. J. Wilkinson, Eleanor Deichman, George Rawlings, Russell Noland, Sam Gaggett, Jimmy Pates, Tommy Goodloe, “Togo” Graves, Billy Ramey, Kathleen Goodloe, Lynnwood Garrett, Lucy Samuel,  Butch Wimer and Bill Orrock.

In 1966, Richard Limerick moved his trailer onto the fairgrounds and began helping and learning about running the fair from Mr. Rowell. When Mr. Rowell retired, Mr. Limerick took over as Manager and DuVal Dickinson, who was a farmer and an exhibitor, became the Fair President.  Limerick remained a fixture of the fairgrounds and active through the 2009 fair.  He passed away on October 10, 2009, after a short battle with cancer.  The Homemaker's Building is dedicated to him.

Rappahannock Goodwill Industries (RGI) provides work opportunities, job training, and employment search assistance to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. RGI serves the City of Fredericksburg and a 12-county region. RGI serves our region through employment assistance at the Goodwill Job Help Centers, a commercial laundry, off-site custodial and administrative services, outsourcing and contract services, Goodwill stores, an outlet, and numerous attended donation centers.
